How to deal with stress as an entrepreneur?

Entrepreneurship is a marathon where you are also expected to make sprint runs more often than not. Entrepreneurs are typically the super heroes who are chasing revenues, investments, meeting deadlines, managing talent while building organizations operationally and putting systems in place and more. Phew.
According to the Gallup Wellbeing Index, 45% of entrepreneurs report being stressed compared to 42% of “other workers.” Entrepreneurs also report being more likely to have “worried a lot” — 34% vs. 30%.

Other worrisome trends is being reported by this report (https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11187-018-0059-8), “Mental health differences directly or indirectly affected 72% of the entrepreneurs in this sample, including those with a personal mental health history (49%) and family mental health history among the asymptomatic entrepreneurs (23%). ”

There are these particular situations that perhaps increases the overall stress level of an entrepreneur

  1. Lack of Capital – Cash flow management is what can make or break the business and therefore is a very important aspect for any entrepreneur and staying top of this aspect is stressful.
  2. Unrealistic deadlines – Startups typically chase unrealistic deadlines owing to the fact that business was generated on this aspect. There are instances wherein putting 18 hours a day also is lesser thus creating a stressful situation
  3. The talent crunch – This can be divided into 2 problems. The first and foremost, attracting talent and then retaining them if ever they decide to leave
  4. Taking decisions – This is a very big problem right at the start of the journey, though eventually people do come over this aspect
  5. Sales and revenue pipeline – Sales and revenues is what keeps the business alive and this is the biggest reason most of the businesses die and therefore is one of the biggest reason of stress for any entrepreneur.
  6. Co-founder issues
  7. And everything else that’s not been happening for the business


How can we overcome these stress-causing issues and live peacefully-

  2. Sleep Well
  3. Work on To – do list and more importantly work on Not To – DO list
  4. Learn the art of Delegation, build a super team
  5. Learn to say NO
  6. Take some time off and spend with family and may be Travel
  7. Eat Well
