Many corporate giants are headed by women today and names like Indra Nooyi, Nisaba Godrej, Ekta Kapoor et cetera have become popular, manifesting the intelligence, dedication and hard work of women.

This Women’s day, we bring you the story of 5 New Age Women Entrepreneurs who deserve an applaud for choosing unconventional paths and are truly an inspiration for everyone finding their feet in business.

Sairee Chahal-   Sairee acknowledges the huge gap between women talent and right jobs available for them and thinks that we still live in a patriarchal world where it is difficult for women to rise high. That led to her starting an online career community solely dedicated to women called SHEROES, which aims to create career opportunities for women professionals. She along with her team work to help all those women who want to make their own identity but find it difficult to choose the right profession for themselves, identify their inner fire and mentor them in overcoming all the personal and professional barriers.

Powerful Women in Indian Business 2012 and has been featured on shows like Young Turks, Pioneering Spirit and What Women Want. A believer in work-life redesign, serial entrepreneur, mentor, an occasional writer and mother of a 9-year-old,  Sairee has made her mark in business innovation and working for the cause of women.
Richa Kar– Hailing from Jamshedpur, this small town girl had big dreams for herself. Richa Kar, the founder of Zivame has set an example of a new age woman entrepreneur who is audacious and isn’t afraid to do what she believes in. With establishing the first Indian e-commerce marketplace dedicated to women lingerie, she is helping millions of women to understand their lingerie needs and browse the purchase without any embarrassment. She thinks that because there is a social discomfort surrounding lingerie shopping in India, both retailers and shoppers face myriad issues and Zivame is a step to solve this issue.

Shradha Sharma– Contrary to the popular belief that Biharis have poor command over English, this girl from Patna has broken all such stereotypes with her venture YourStory, a media technology platform for entrepreneurs where she is the chief editor too. Shradha is called the biggest storyteller of India’s digital space .She was featured in a techgig story as one of “5 women Indian entrepreneurs in.”Her company has been described as “India’s biggest and definitive platform for start-ups and entrepreneurs-related stories, news, resources and research reports.

Youstory has a long way to go with a mind like Shradha dedicated to it. She is a motivation for everyone who has an idea but waiting to put it across the right way to make it a success.

Aditi Gupta– Where everyone is busy playing safe, Aditi did not shy away from choosing something out of the box, something which is the need of the hour for women in India. Menstrupedia, the company founded and managed by her, aims to address the social taboo of Menstruation in India. This rebel hailing from a small town of Jharkhand started Menstrupedia from her own experience. While growing up, she observed the social discomfort people had of this natural biological phenomenon due to which girls could not get proper guidance and hygiene, harming their health in the long run. Through this website and comic that they design, Aditi spreads awareness and has created a platform where girls and women can get their queries answered by experts, read articles, facts and all without any discomfort. Aditi, for her unique initiative has won many awards like Laadli Media Awards etc. Adity is an example of how to break taboos and be successful in unconventional fields.
